Last week, #YVRFoodies and Food Connections had a foodie night for all YVR Foodies members. I decided to represent my own blog this time (instead of Mint To Inspire), because Chinese food was something I ate basically everyday and I wanted to do an honest opinion through my blog.
We were invited to Fortune House Seafood Restaurant in Burnaby, BC. It is located inside Metrotown near the skytrain station side of the mall. It’s a pretty good location since there will always be parking and you can always go shopping after.
Our first two dishes were our appetizers, which are veggie tempuras and dimsum they would usually serve in the morning. These are dishes I have had before and to me, it wasn’t anything special to me. But the way presentation of these two dishes were indeed presentable.
Bird’s Nest with XO Sauce Stir Fry Beef Tenderloin, Mixed Peppers, Deep Fried Milk
This dish was definitely something I haven’t seen before. The detail of this dish is incredible and the taste is definitely different. It was different to also serve fried milk in a main dish. It was super tasty!
By the 4th dish, I was honestly pretty full so I just had a nibble on the rest of the courses. My favourite out of the whole meal was definitely the fried fish, it had a really rich taste especially with the sweet and sour sauce.
Last but not least, dessert is always my favourite. Mango pudding is my favourite dessert. So all these favourites mixed together can be the best feeling in the world. The fish shaped mango pudding represents prosperity.
